
Southeastern CT, centrally located between New York City and Boston, offers a wide variety of transportation options for business and residents.
Interstate highways I-95 and I-395 cross the region east/west and north/south respectively. The Port of New London is the major deepwater port in New England south of Boston and an entry for wood, copper and a cruise ship port. Ferry service also operates from New London to Long Island and Fisher's Island, NY daily, year-round and to Block Island, RI seasonally. Greyhound Bus Lines and SEAT, the local area transit system operate from New London, and SEAT has routes throughout the region. Amtrak serves Mystic and New London with frequent daily service including one ACELA stop daily each way in New London. Shoreline East Commuter Rail is currently expanding its service between New London and New Haven.
Union Station in New London, at the center of much of this activity, serves as the Regional Transportation Center. In Norwich a new transportation center is being built to accommodate both regional bus service and potential future rail and ferry service.
