About Franklin
Located adjacent to Norwich on the northeast, the Town of Franklin was originally settled in 1663 as part of the then much larger community of Norwich. Franklin was incorporated in 1786 as its own town. Today, the community of 20 square miles and 1,900 residents is still largely rural but the town’s outlook is optimistic and challenging. A balance between homes and businesses is planned to maintain a level tax base. Growth has been gradual and there is a strong commitment to maintaining the town’s rural character, while encouraging appropriate residential, commercial and industrial development on available sites within the town limits.
